WWH update- 4 weeks post surgery

we have hit the one month mark!
this is where i was hoping for a return to normalcy.
we are 3/4 of the way there! whoop!
wyatt is doing great. the days are easy. he naps in his crib twice a day and we have a "normal routine".
nights are still another story, BUT he has slept in his crib most nights for a week now. he is VERY attached to me which is to be expected and it takes a long time for him to go to bed and be soothed. that is going to take some time, but we will get there.
the night nurse is coming 2x a week and so i get sleep those nights thank the Lord. she says he sleeps about 5 hours in his crib and no rubbing his nose on his mattress - score!
right now, sleeping on a normal schedule is all we have to tackle. i am used to putting the tubes and tape on and can actually do it in seconds. just call me nurse jackie - without the pill problem of course ;)
his smiles are huge again and he is as active as ever. i don't have a second to fold laundry without him crawling up my leg and pulling up to my shoulders.
we still aren't going back to the Y yet, i just can't let him get sick just because i want to workout. one day soon when i feel ready and we can handle a cold, etc.
and....we have a sitter for the first time in 6 weeks for saturday night! we need it that's for damn sure!
here is a pic i took monday of one of his sweet smiles....
what a little heartbreaker!
the hard child now is LAWTON. lordy!! everything is a negotiation and he is not going to bed until 9:30 every night. these afternoon naps might need to stop.
he wants another kiss and hug about 10 times every night, more water, he always has to poop right when we say it's bedtime...you name it! i need a book on how to handle this or something. we need a schedule with him again and i am just so tired at night to fight him and negotiate everything with him. he is great during the day but at night it is "let me watch this 2 more minutes! let me play cars 5 more minutes!" kid is exhausting!!
i wish i could say to a masseuse, hey, 5 more minutes lady. it doesn't work that way all the time buddy and i am about to put the smack down on this kid.

  1. Wow....Wyatt doesn't even look like the same boy. He was and is so darn cute. Again, thank you for sharing your story.

  2. I am not looking forward to the negotiating stage...uggh. Wyatt is looking AMAZING! He was always a handsome little guy, but I think what I see most now is the spunk in his eyes! Have fun on your date night, you two deserve it!

  3. Wyatt is so cute!!! I hope to see him again soon! Anna was doing the same thing Lawton is doing, we dropped her nap and she goes to bed so much better! Now she has quiet time in her room for 1.5 hours. She can play on the ipad, watch tv, play with toys, etc. She comes out a lot, but she sleeps at night now!

  6. Deuce is the exact same at bedtime. It's I'm not ready or I need a drink or I have to doo doo or something! Last night I got so frustrated that I stood outside his door and held it shut for about 10 minutes until he just gave up and crawled in bed and got under the covers. Momma needs her rest!
