this weekend was crazy...but thats not a shocker for me anymore!
jack turned 34 friday night and played golf all day, went with my brother and we'll leave it at that....he blew it out. literally.
saturday lawton decided it was his turn for some attention:watch mom, I am going to get sick and show you! you will have to take care of me now! ;)
lawton woke me up at 5am (after just falling asleep at 4) and was breathing very rapidly. i knew we needed to go to the ER, so i called the nurse and she confirmed it. well, i couldn't arouse jack (big birthday night) and took both boys to the ER at 5:30. my life.
lawton had to get 2 breathing treatments and they put him on steroids for a few days. i was proud of how they behaved and thank goodness no one was there and we didn't have to wait.
we were home 2 hours later and i felt like i was on speed..
trying to pick up 20 pound baby isn't easy!
he was feeling much better after a few treatments obviously ;) we have a nebulizer and he is doing great with them. not fighting them like he used to. i used to sweat holding him down screaming and it was scary because he was so young. scary for me mostly....well, who knows, he was freaked because who loves wearing a mask over their face....wait, lawton, i mean batman does ;)
i have to clean wyatt's lip and nose every day and this how he looks once i am done. beautiful huh? i hate that i can't see his face like this but for an hour a day.....once 4 months is up, we will have a whole new face to look at sans tape and tubes.....the many faces of wyatt! oh how i can't wait to kiss those lips!!! it is AWFUL not being able to do it now. AWFUL. stab to the heart actually.
lip and nose up close and personal. the thing hanging down is the inside stitches that have yet to come out. still swollen because he isn't yet 3 weeks out. i think dr. matthews did an incredible job...i mean, look at that round nostril - it was completely flat before! i have a big love for dr. matthews and just want to throw my arms around him when i see him. amazing!
hopefully this week is better and involves lots of sleep!!
Wyatt looks gorgeous. You are not kidding when you say Dr. Matthews did an amazing job! I can't get Aidan to do his nebulizer treatments without being held down at almost 6 yrs old! I'm stealing the Batman idea! Glad you are getting some sleep!
ReplyDeleteI don't know you, but your blog is such an encouragement to me! My sweet girl was born with a partial cleft in her soft palate (only) that we didn't know about until birth. An unexpected adventure to say the least. Her surgery is scheduled for April 23 (at MCG in Augusta, GA, (though we moved from Charleston pre-baby, so I am familiar with MUSC), so I've been devouring your updates. I'm starting to become a nervous wreck, but I also want to get it over with. Lawton is gorgeous (before and after); it's simply amazing what surgeons can do.
ReplyDeleteAlso, two kids in the ER makes you a total super mom.
Wow, you ARE a supermom!!! 2 little ones at the ER at 5:30 in the morning? Yikes! Wyatt's lip looks fantastic!! My mom (NICU Nurse Practitioner) says Dr. Matthews is a true artist with what he does and I absolutely believe it!! Lawton looks so cute playing with his little brother too - what a sweetie!! When things get tough like this, I love the old Winston Churchill saying, "when you're going through hell, just keep going"!! Helps me a lot!! You got this Mama!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a super woman, d'you know that? Those boys are precious and Wyatt is looking incredible:)
