My Aunt Rocks
did you notice lawton's shirt? "my aunt rocks!"....totally says it all. my aunt karen rocks. enough said. she is my second mom, one of my best friends and loves mista mista like her own. she works at providence baptist and got lawton into school (yay!) and literally is across the hall from his classroom. all the moms who said they cried when they dropped their baby off for the first day of school? not me. i was like "have fun, see ya bud!" and it is because i feel like i am dropping him off at aunt karen's house for some fun! she is such a huge help to us and i don't know what i would do without her! PLUS, she has two amazing daughters and a hubby mark who want to take lawton away from me and keep him as their own. i am so thankful for them and can't tell them enough how much i love them!
here is a picture of mista mista with his teacher miss debbie. gotta love school!! Tuesday, September 28, 2010
water boy
i love bathtime. so does my boy. in fact, he would stay in there for hours (he didn't SAY that, but hey, i am his mom and i know if he could talk, he would say that)...so, i let him. well, not for hours but i let him stay in there for 20-30 minutes and just wrinkle his cute self up. we moved to the big bath (in his baby tub) a few weeks ago and he was scared shitless of the monster spout and the scary high walls. cried, cried , and cried. mama no like bathtime. then, after 3 days of fussing, he got used to it. so then it got crazy....;-) and i took him out of his blue bath (aka comfort zone) and put him on a bathmat (made a special trip to buybuybaby for that one -pat on back) and he is in heaven...in his own ymca spashpark. i sit on the side, talk to him, let him splash me (i end up soaked) and let him chew on those letters until his heart desires. i love seeing him this happy. he is like his daddy...loves the water. me, not so much, but i will sit and watch all day long ;-) can't wait for tonight.ps- the grime behind him looks nasty....i swear, it doesn't look like that in person. we aren't animals over here.

the.worst.two.days.EVER

the stomach bug. i hate you. with a passion. you got me in may and you came back to our happy home on thursday. you are not welcome in our house. EVER AGAIN.
see, the thing is, this time, you got my baby boy AND me. game on brother. that is unacceptable. you scared me this time. you made my child throw up every 15 minutes from 10:30pm to 3:30am. i had to watch poor lawton go through that and poor thing can't talk and tell me anything. so, you see? we have beef. if you show up again, i will not be as nice as i was this time. you'll see.
but, the good news is we are all better today. daddy went on the bachelor trip this morning that he had to miss out on yesterday because i couldn't physically get up from bed. we are both eating for the first time and determined to get out in the sunshine today!! i hope this terrible bug doesn't hit any of you! but if it does, it was only 12 hrs for both of us. go ahead and get your pedialyte and have it on hand....oh, and saltines and gingerale in case mommy gets it!

gotta love playgroups!
lawton sure is a lucky boy. he is in 2 playgroups each week that we love. it is so nice to get out of the house and see friends for an hour or so each day. one playgroup is wednesday afternoons and it is all first time moms. we usually have a bit of wine and some snacks while the kids play. and i say usually because a few months ago, most would sit there and now all hell breaks loose! (fyi - lawton was 7 weeks old and we went to "playgroup" at melissa's house and mama had too much champagne and had to call daddy to pick us up...yes, true story. )and the second is thursday mornings with a lot of second time moms whom i have loved getting to know - they know everything!! ;-). i am so thankful for both and feel lucky to have made some wonderful new friends. the advice that goes around is so helpful and i have loved watching these babies grow! here are a few pictures from wednesday's playgroup. i didn't have my camera for thursday ;-(

umm...mom!! a little help here...
ladies and gentlemen (ummm...jack and trent possibly?), we have movement. yes, our life over at the Hall house has changed. no more "oh, i can lay him in the middle of the floor for a second while i run upstairs or perhaps take 2 second to myself and run to the restroom?", no sir, this little man is on the move. i now have to take him everywhere i need to go, set him down and watch him like a hawk. he is on the move like a felon from the cops! fingers went in an outlet yesterday, i ran and put the covers on - i can't believe this day is here!
today, he got a stuck under the chair. (i know, i know, it needs to be recovered...believe me, it's on the LIST. the very loooong list of things i want done that won't get done for a WHILE). i waited a while to see if he could get himself out, but he got impatient with me ;-)
"seriously mom, are you just going to sit there or get me out of here? i have toys to play with, remotes to steal and your phone to slobber on. thanks."Tuesday, September 14, 2010
oh hell ya!
bravo pbs!!i found you and i LOVE you!! i turned on the pbs station this morning (don't know the kid stations, please let me know if you do - what a beautiful thing! ha!) and wow...he was entranced. i guess the today show with hoda and kathie lee is going to have to go on dvr (love them. you know you do too). we have found a new friend and his name is TV.
btw, i am not about to make this a habit, but a little alone time for each of us in the morning is a good thing i think ;-)

Labor Day 2010 at Edisto Beach AND a lesson learned
this past weekend we were at edisto beach for the labor day holiday. and damn, it is a blur! we had a nice time, but lets be honest, going to the beach with a baby is hard work! lawton had not been feeling well (cold) and therefore did not sleep the 12 hrs he usually does (mommy and daddy were not happy having to get up in the middle of the night, esp after cocktails) and he just wanted mommy all weekend (hard on me because every time i left the room there were tears and hard on others because we heard a lot of whining). BUT, we did manage to have fun with the family and it was nice to hang out in our pj's until 11 and not have anything to do. but, mark my words: lesson learned. i am not going to the beach again with a sick child. let alone one that can't walk yet. sorry bud, but mommy is tired ;-)
