WWH update

i had another fetal appointment today and always look forward to them now ;)
today we were just checking weight, head circumference, bladder and belly and throwing in a few 3d shots of his face IF we could get it to see wyatt's cleft.
well, as you know, i have been praying and praying for a big baby. not too big like jessica simpsons child - poor thing!, but just 8 pounds would be the bomb.com.
well, i turned 33 weeks today and in my little app, it said the baby should weigh around 4.5 pounds. when we went into the room to get scanned, i asked the tech if that was right and she said probably less since i just turned 33 weeks.
UH. NO.
my big, healthy boy weighed 5 POUNDS! woo hoo!! i was beaming. he was measuring a week early (which means nothing) and was eating and emtying his bladder just fine. placenta and amniotic fluid looked great. i couldn't ask for better news.
we did see a few 3d shots but it was hard since he was so squished, it is hard. his cleft did look a little bit slanted, which dr. stevenson said can happen, so again, we can't tell much until he is born.
i go back in 3 weeks to check weight and fluid. i LOVE doing this. it is really exciting to me to see him this late in the game. imagine that? something that is so scary has ended up being pretty fun...i love the front desk girls, the techs and esp my doc....she is so wonderful.

Wedding Weekend

you know the friends you have that feel like sisters? well, i am lucky to say i have a lot of them.
from college, from this year, from childhood, etc.
my friend jenna got married in blowing rock over the weekend. we went to HS together and roomed together our whole time in college. the weekend was PERFECT. beautiful, FUN, and i now have the blues:( i miss everyone already.
all of these girls...we have been best friends since we were all 18 thrown in together at UT at NC State and all ended up in the same sorority and staying so close throughout the years. i haven't laughed this hard in so long for so many days....my belly hurt so bad!!
laughter is so good for the soul and this weekend was the best medicine. PLUS, we now have a wonderful new hubby in the group!
congrats to jenna and jeff, your weekend was amazing!
bridesmaids luncheon (l-r) laura, giordana, moi, wicker and hope
the beautiful bride to be. she was so calm all weekend!
at the rehearsal dinner....gorgeous flowers, beautiful space, delicious food and friends. all you need!
we all lived together for 2 years in college (wicker, jenna, me and wyatt and laura)
these are our best friends ever, laura and andrew. we are godparents to their beautiful daughter ryan and we met at their wedding ;)
me and my man. he was SO handsome that night if i do say so myself. i bought him some bonobo pants in coral for fathers day (thanks for the idea ashley!) and he looked HOT ;)
all the ladies! the bridesmaids wore navy in any cut we wished - perfect for me since i continue to grow..
laura, wicker, brooks, me, meredith (expecting twins in august!), brenda, beautiful bride jenna, hope, meredith and giordana.
 the happy couple
 7 weeks to go!
and THIS is how jack ends a fun weekend. beer in hand on the couch fast asleep. i went to brush my teeth and laura and wicker made me come wake him up and move him. it was too weird for them to talk and have him sitting there fast asleep....it was too much like weekend at bernies ;)
alright, next girl to get married, let's hurry it up - i am ready!

pediatricians

picking a pediatrician can be so much fun.
i remember "interviewing" eastover peds and loving them. feeling so comfortable and in such good hands. about a year later mary ann cross joined eastover and now lawton's doctor and a great friend. she is having a baby 10 days before wyatt, so exciting! it is so nice to see her, give her a hug catch up for 5 minutes, then on to the appointment. it is also nice to cry to her if i am panicked, etc. again, i feel lucky. thing is, she is the ONLY doctor i ever want to see.
now, with little wyatt. i had heard from several people that there is a pediatrician in town that has twins and one was born with a cleft lip and palate. in the past 2 weeks, i have been thinking about her a lot. something told me that i needed to at least meet with her.
so, today, jack and i went to Arboretum Pediatrics.
Now, charlotte is a big city. i grew up going to the arboretum...it was close to my house. now, not so much. a good 20 minute drive. eastover is basically down the road.
enter panic: what if i need to get there quickly? what if, what if, what if.
breathe.
well, she was amazing. i cried. a few times actually. she told me about her son. she told me that he was born a little over 5 pounds and after he learned to eat, he was the champion of the two. he was chunkier than the other!!i have put this pressure on myself to make wyatt a big baby. when people tell me my belly is "small" my legs, arms and butt are not, i don't like it. i want him huge. a little weight was lifted today hearing that. some babies are put back in the hospital because they lose too much weight, BUT they will learn, as will he. she said i will need to "choke it down him". oh jeez. BUT, she will show me.
i also asked about the sleeping situation. she also went to dr matthews for surgery and he says sleep them on their bellies because they gag sleeping on their backs, which she says is true. i didn't like this. neither did she. so, she slept him on one side one night and the other the next. i will try this and to be honest, if i have to sleep with him on my chest until he is 6 months, i will. i can sleep when he is one right? oh jeez again.
she also told us her sons name was jack.(insert heart here) that he had surgery at 15 months to close the lip and palate, that he has had 4 surgeries (he is 7), that he has been in speech therapy once a week from 18 months to 5 years old. that he has had 6 sets of tubes. none of this scared me. she showed me pictures of a beautiful boy.
if she can do it. so can i. if jack can do it, so can wyatt. jack also had bi-lateral and wyatt has uni-lateral.
point is- the doctors there were young, fresh and KNOW about clefts. she has many cleft patients because of what she personally has been through. i feel good like we are in good hands.
isn't life funny? i am going to have 2 pediatricians. i never thought that would be the case. i am going to learn from someone who has BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. i can cry to someone who knows EXACTLY what i am going through. i can vent frustrations, triumphs, the good and bad and KNOW, she understands.
amazing. i am lucky.
lucky to keep mary ann for lawton and lucky to have dr. sullivan for wyatt.
it was a good day ;)

Splish Splash

this week we had PG at latta splash park great idea melissa! of course, lawton didn't want anything to do with the water park for 2 hours, so katherine and i waddled our sweaty pregnant selves around the playgroup chasing after the kids.
once we were ready to leave, what did lawton do? wants to get in the water.
how can you say no to this? if i had on the right clothes, i would have gone in myself...woulda been a sight to see....it was HOT. i on the other hand, was NOT. being pregnant in the summer is for the birds.
 testing it out...
 oh yeah!!!
he had the best time! we will be making many more trips back to this park this summer ;)
you think lawton and i have the same hair or what? those curls and to think i dye my hair the exact color of his....we might even have the same size head...;))
wyatt at 31.5 weeks.

sleep, we have a problem

it's my fault. i know it and i own it.
when lawton decided he didn't want to sleep in his crib ever again, jack was out of town. so, i slept with him in his new big boy bed and new room. big transition.
then, i found i LOVED sleeping with him. it is cooler in his room than mine, my pregnant self has MUCH MORE room than my bed with jack and let's be honest...those mornings waking up to a sweet voice saying "hi mommy. i wuv you" did me in.
now, i want to break this habit. my sis in law said he called for me every morning around 5:30 when he stayed with them. since we have been back, it is 12:30am and he is screaming jumping up and down on his bed for me. this has got to stop.
i am NOT this girl below who thinks sleeping with their kids is a good idea. co-sleeping was NEVER my intention! i was just trying to be a good mama to both my boys...it sure is nice and cool in his bed for wyatt and myself ;)
so, where do we go from here? here are the stats:
31 weeks pregnant and miserable in my hot room upstairs.
i do not go to sleep with him at bedtime and he is fine with that, he just wakes up anywhere from 12:30-4:30 asking aka screaming for me.
i am SO SO TIRED and just go there in the middle of the night because i can't stand the screaming. jack on the other hand is out for the count.
what do i do? go comfort him and then go back to my bed? do i let him scream it out? last night he banged on his door for an hour, put on his shoes, etc.
if you have been through this, email me. we have a baby coming in 8 weeks people!!!! this needs to stop ASAP!!
i just made a chart for the week starting tonight that if he doesn't call for me, he will get a prize. bribery at its best.

Bahama Mama

last weekend, Jack and I went to the bahamas for his second annual work trip. i have to say, i had more fun this year than last and i was sober! the weather was wonderful, the company was perfect and jack and i had some good one on one time (that we didn't have last year) that we have really needed with all that we have had going on. when you are married, you have to keep falling in love over and over...with the same person. i did that this weekend and it was wonderful ;-)

i don't have many pics at all from the trip, but here are a few!
friday night there was a cocktail and you were on your own for dinner. we chose to do a date dinner and it was so wonderful!! time alone never happens it feels like!
the amount of fifty shades conversations throughout the weekend was hysterical. all the women talked about the books and i found two of jack's co-workers wives out by the pool saturday engrossed in them...couldn't help but capture this moment!! LOVE these books by the way. i have been so bored since i finished!
sunday we went to the cove (we were staying at the atlantis) and had brunch and i laid out on the beach for a few hours before we met up with everyone at a cabana. i didn't see the water last year, so this was a treat. it was so peaceful and i cherished every minute of peace and quiet since i don't get many of those at home ;)
and here is the day we got home! i am 31 weeks today. it was really tough traveling on two flights each way...wyatt was great - i just prayed every night that my water wouldn't break there! all i could think about was the only person i have heard giving birth in the bahamas was anna nicole smith! the days were long and i grew tired. 3 nights was just perfect and i am glad to be home!
MEANWHILE....the little man was staying at his cousins house in fayetteville...AKA disney world to him ;-)
he had the BEST time. this was him on the way thursday pulling into their neighborhood
we then went to the pool, let them swim and eat (lawton was such a daredevil! he loved it! so glad we are getting swim lessons in a few weeks because i had to save him from drowning a few times ;)) with the kids and as you can see, he was pretty comfortable there.
that night and every night thereafter i am sure, emmie read to him. emmie went to camp sunday for a week, so she slept with him one night and will the next. he was in heaven!!
while emmie was gone, there was a LOT of boy time. will was so nice to share all his toys with lawton who DOES NOT share well with others. mandy asked me if she could teach him anything over the weekend and i said "potty train??" pretty pretty please?? hahaha!
instead, she taught him how to drink milk out of his cereal bowl ;))
thank you mandy, dale, emily and will for letting lawton stay with you! like last year, he had the best time. this morning on the way to school, he said "i go play golf! no skool!!"....poor bud. pool, golf, tennis, etc etc with the cousins and good ole school with mom. he was pissed. cried all the way into his classroom...
oh, and let's not forget the bullet holes in our window.
we walked in yesterday and i saw tiny shards of shattered glass everywhere in the dining room. i looked up to see if a light bulb burst on the chandelier and saw the 8 BB holes in our dining room window. EIGHT! also 2 in the wood and one in the gutter outside and we found 3 BB's in the house.
talk about scary. we are in the living room all.the.time.
found out it was our next door neighbor and his friends "goofing off" friday night while grilling out. he said he had no clue that they came this far because they were shooting at some cans another place. i showed him my son and my belly and told him he really could have hurt someone. i wanted to knock his teeth out. i asked him if the cans he was shooting at were on our porch?? did he know we were out of town? was your target practice our window? dumbass. at least he owned up to it and is going to pay for it.
some people are so clueless. it's little things like that that you NEVER think about. thank goodness he is moving out in 2 weeks.
all in all a wonderful weekend but happy to be back on schedule!

update on wyatt: went to dr today, measuring right on time. he is all up in my ribs and they feel bruised. awesome times but worth everything!

WWH 30 WEEKS!

here is my little pumpkin at 30 weeks ;) very flexible if you ask me!
today we had another great appointment with the specialist. from here on out, we are just going to see him and see if y chance we can get a great shot of the lip and palate. as you can see above, his feet are right at his face and that gets harder to see! if you look VERY closely at the picture, you can see the little cleft under his heel. do you see it? aren't these 3D pictures amazing?
i debated on weather or not i should share sonogram pictures on here but this one was too cute ( to me at least ) not to share. don't you think he looks like lawton?
as for stats...right on time week wise and measuring a healthy 3.6 pounds! way to go wyatt! i want you BIG and STRONG!
10< weeks to go people!!!

Great Way to Start off June!

this weekend has been a busy one, but a LOT of fun! friday night, Jack, my mom and i went to the "Nic of Time" fundraiser at the duke mansion. My friend Meghan started this non-profit side business - here are the details:
As was their newest venture, "Cottie & Cake," a non-profit side business that makes colorful blankets to be donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Levine Children's Hospital. The idea was inspired by Meghan, who had a difficult and high-risk pregnancy carrying two twin girls (Katelynn and Scottlynn). The twins were delivered early and Katelynn did not survive. Scottlynn ("Scottie") had to be kept in critical care, weighing only 2 pounds when she was delivered. The team at the NICU was invaluable to Meghan and her family and she wanted to find a way to give back. Ella, Scottie's big sister, never did get to know little Kate, but that didn't stop her from learning both their names... though "Scottie and Kate" came out sounding more like "Cottie and Cake," hence the name of the venture.

meghan and i were friends many years ago and have been reconnected through Wyatt. I am so thankful for the people that i have come to meet and come back in touch with through my experience already. she is an inspiration and wonderful mother and i was honored to be invited to her event. we had a great time!!
 jack and i (29 weeks!)
my beautiful mom who is in her last rotations in becoming a PA

the next morning, uncle trent came over and we went to IHOP. this was very special for trent and i to be able to go since this is usually just a Lawton and daddy tradition. the waitresses in there actually came up to us and were excited to see him and shocked to see me!
later that day i helped host a shower for my good friend meredith. she is having twins!!! a boy AND a girl! so special....these babies are miracles and all of us couldn't be more happy for meredith and jeff ;)
my friend hope _excuse my puffy arms and legs. it happens.
the stylish mama to be! this girl got HOOKED up!!!! i might have to go shopping after seeing all the new stuff that is out even after 2 years!
after a walk with libby this morning, we have a birthday party this afternoon -- great start to june!
10 weeks until Wyatt is here.....OMG!
