sleep, we have a problem

it's my fault. i know it and i own it.
when lawton decided he didn't want to sleep in his crib ever again, jack was out of town. so, i slept with him in his new big boy bed and new room. big transition.
then, i found i LOVED sleeping with him. it is cooler in his room than mine, my pregnant self has MUCH MORE room than my bed with jack and let's be honest...those mornings waking up to a sweet voice saying "hi mommy. i wuv you" did me in.
now, i want to break this habit. my sis in law said he called for me every morning around 5:30 when he stayed with them. since we have been back, it is 12:30am and he is screaming jumping up and down on his bed for me. this has got to stop.
i am NOT this girl below who thinks sleeping with their kids is a good idea. co-sleeping was NEVER my intention! i was just trying to be a good mama to both my boys...it sure is nice and cool in his bed for wyatt and myself ;)
so, where do we go from here? here are the stats:
31 weeks pregnant and miserable in my hot room upstairs.
i do not go to sleep with him at bedtime and he is fine with that, he just wakes up anywhere from 12:30-4:30 asking aka screaming for me.
i am SO SO TIRED and just go there in the middle of the night because i can't stand the screaming. jack on the other hand is out for the count.
what do i do? go comfort him and then go back to my bed? do i let him scream it out? last night he banged on his door for an hour, put on his shoes, etc.
if you have been through this, email me. we have a baby coming in 8 weeks people!!!! this needs to stop ASAP!!
i just made a chart for the week starting tonight that if he doesn't call for me, he will get a prize. bribery at its best.

  1. I have been reading your blog for a while now, but never commented. Hi! I am personally, not dealing with this, but 2 of my good friends have... and blogged about it. I use Moms on Call with my little one and LOVE them. Here are links to my friends' two blog posts that sound a lot like what you are going through.

  3. Oh, Brooke.....my story may be too long and I don't have a blog, but I went through it!
As a single parent sleeping with North felt natural in a house empty for just us. For her first year I lived with my parents and we shared one room. We simply started off on the wrong foot and I never thought it was much of a problem.
Until I thought about finding a partner.
When she was 3 I spent ALL summer trying to break the habbit and failed. The next year tried and failed again. I have lots of scary and funny stories. But for the passed year in time we've been pretty successful. Minus a few exceptions, I read to her in bed every night, say a prayer and depart for my own bed.
Looking back, my best advice is to let them cry it out and stay consistent.
Stay consistent. Stay consistent. Stay consistent and let them cry it out.
They will see...and mommy is always there in the morning :)
