like our lawton, wyatt is like mommy and likes to arrive a bit early! i will have a few posts on his birth, so here is the beginning of my beautiful boys life ;)
sunday july 29,2012 at 3am i knew something wasn't right. jack and i headed to the hospital at 6am and didn't even get the bags out of the car thinking there was a big chance we might be headed home. at 10:30, we found out we were going to have our baby boy that day!
i was in shock. july? seriously? 2.5 weeks early? i was excited and scared, hoping he was going to weigh a lot, scared about the NICU team, just a little numb, yet super excited because i was going to finally meet this child that we and you have prayed for for so many months.
here i am. contracting but not dilated or effaced at all. nothing. they said i was in for a long day. my friend lindsay scales is a labor a delivery nurse at CMC. when we found out about wyatt, i emailed her and asked her if there was any chance she would be able to help deliver wyatt. she only worked weekends, so i just prayed we went on a weekend. well, low and behold, when we walked in sunday morning, linsday was leaving her shift but told me she was coming back at 7 that night and she would make sure she would be my nurse. guess when i started pushing? 7:04. with lindsay at my side. God worked so many miracles that day and that was a major one. i will never forget having her there beside me, encouraging me, coaching me and being my friend. yes, jack was there too ;) and he was amazing!! i had such an easy birth and watched all of it which was another miracle to behold. once wyatt was born, they took him away to be checked by the NICU team, so i had yet to see my sweet baby...
he is here and comes out screaming!
this is the NICU team checking on his palate and suck. this is when they told us that he was semi-bilateral inside but that he had a strong suck and that was wonderful. his apgar was 9!
a whopping 6.13 and 20.5 inches long!! pat on the back to me for 37.5 weeks! tcby, you did good!
after this i finally got to hold him. very, very emotional to say the least...kisses all over him and just SO thankful that he was here, in my arms and safe and sound. and damn, so cute!!
first bath
i can't get enough of him. i am connected to this child in so many ways. i can't be away from him for long at all. i have yet to take a nap without him and he is the same. can't sleep unless he is close to mama...
finally big brother gets to meet baby wyatt!!
very proud daddy
this is how we feed wyatt. we have special bottles that we pump when he sucks. he really impressed all the specialists and nurses with his eating and i couldn't have been more proud. we have to feed him upright, and just burp him more often. these children tend to choke a bit, so we try our best to follow his lead. we are now using different bottles to feed (more on that in another post) which are a ton easier.
we ended up staying another night just to get the feeding down. well, just so I could get more confident. jack is a master at it and i was just a bit more hesitant because i never want to see him choking. i have the hang of it now and was just so glad that we had another night of the nurses and speech therapists (they taught us to feed) expertise.
headed home!!
my prayers were answered. my son is here. he is healthy, he is happy and by God, he is BEAUTIFUL!!!
THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for wyatt and for us. THANK YOU for the calls, emails, texts...THANK YOU for lending an ear, a shoulder to cry on, listening to my phone calls. THANK YOU for being our friend.
much love!!!!
more posts to come....
