just a little update on wyatt ;)
the week before last, we had our regular monthly appointment with dr. matthews.
wyatt was crazy busy in there, it was so hard to keep this kid contained! he is into everything and at drs. offices, where you don't want them to pick up anything, it's hard waiting and keeping them occupied and not touching anything!
anyway, he said he looked good and that we were ready to get on the books for his next surgery.
i'll be honest, i was about 50/50 disappointed and relived.
relived because we are having a hard time eating anything other than stage 2 baby foods other than stage 3 squash and bananas. he gags at things that have chunks in them and i keep trying but he hates it. he makes funny sounds and faces when i try puffs, crackers or anything that is labeled "crawler". so, i will be glad that after the hard palate is closed, we can begin to eat normally.
disappointed because it will probably be in the next few months. right after he gets his tubes out. then, we have another set back. BUT, this won't be HALF as bad as the other. so, maybe i was 70/40 relived.
then, last week wyatt was up with blood curling screams. i figured it was teething, but by wednesday morning, he had a black spot on the tip of his tongue that was as big as my fingernail and a rash on his face which caused his eye to swell and his nose was running, which in turn causes the tape to get soggy and the tubes to make their way out. it is messy to say the least.
we were leaving for the beach at 1 on wednesday, so i ran him to the dr that morning, hoping for good news. the car was already packed and this trip was planned for months!
so, here is the conclusion:
- runny nose and screaming = teething. has 4 teeth coming in on top at the same rate which is unusual. therefore, causing him to be in a lot of pain.
- rash= eczema. usually caused by sunscreen. so, i am doing hydrocortisone cream twice a day and switching to hypoallergenic sunscreen. i have psoriasis, so i was waiting for his skin to do something funky!
- black tongue = geographic tongue. so crazy! doesn't hurt, will reappear and disappear at different times.
he perked up at the appointment and i loaded him with tylenol and we were off to the beach thank goodness! i swear, you just never know right? geographic tongue??!!! only wyatt ;)
