it was bound to happen...

there is never a dull moment at my house. seriously. it's laughable.
yesterday around noon, lawton was crying and told me he bit his tongue. after he kept crying, i looked in his mouth and saw a chipped tooth...bottom right, next to his molar. half was gone.
i called the dentist, which when we tried to get a cleaning a few months ago, he refused and we had to leave, and they got us in at 1:30.
we go in and lawton is SO good. listening, laughing, being very cooperative. i was shocked!
he looked in his mouth, saw the tooth and told me he would need a root canal and crown. been there. one too many times. then, he checked his other teeth and the kid has SIX cavities!!!!! SIX!!!!!!!!!!! i just laughed. such is my life.
no more juice, no more gummi's for this guy. only on special occasions. we brush, just not great. i am sure i am not the only parent out there saying this...
anyway. he got some laughing gas, still being super cooperative.
ps - that is not a barbie doll, it is wonder woman with superman ;)
i'm not going to lie. seeing your child on this gas, is a trip!! he was screaming out for nemo, said hey! i gotta tell you somebin! i see a giant!! i was crying i was giggling so hard! so, he sat there for 30 minutes, totally relaxed, legs crossed while they did all that. i talked to my mom later and she said how she would have been scared to see him like this, i told her we have been through hell, this is nothing.
he now has a SILVER tooth. yes, SILVER. OMG.

and then, i asked him about lawton's under bite and he said they may have to break his jaw when he is older to fix it.
my kids are screwed. wyatt with the cleft mouth and all that entails and lawton with his underbite and cavities.

and i hate the dentist. hate them. hate is a strong word and i rarely use it. but, i think it is appropriate for this.

now..... when i say it was bound to happen. this is the truth.
i have a problem.
hello. my name is brooke and i am a candy-aholic. have been my whole life.
i could buy a lexus with the $$$ my dad and i have spent on my teeth. root canal, oh hell yes. crowns. yes again. almost lost a tooth too. ANYWAY. one time a dentist told me it was because i have acidic saliva and i am sticking to that ;)
so, i am going to share my obsession. when i took pics, it grossed me out....until i had a sweedish fish ;) please don't judge.
SO, story is. i pick all day. i never eat the whole bar or bag of anything at once. that would make my stomach hurt.
i was never a chocolate fan until after i gave birth to my boys. always gummy candy. i blame that on my brother. he was "allergic" to chocolate, so we never had it around. BUT, before every road trip, we rode our bikes to Kings drugs, loaded up on candy and ate the whole car ride.

so, here goes.
this is my candy drawer. my friends come over and go straight to it to dig in. and when i say MY. i mean MY. jack doesn't eat candy.
this is my frozen chocolate that i eat a bite of after dinner.
and this is in my closet.
i'm a candy hoarder.
so, it was bound to happen.

  1. This just made me laugh so hard! Poor Lawton, 6 cavities! You are not the only one who halfway brushes that is all we do. I am exhasuted come bedtime and do a halfassed teeth brushing everytime. Thinking I may need to get Sterling's teeth checked out. Oh and your candy stash hilarious!

  3. Dear Law,

Sorry to hear about your cavities, crown and root canal, but as a candy fanatic myself, its pretty much a badge of honor! That being said, you may have to ease up for awhile. Now, don't worry, because Auntie Kindra will eat more for you. Its all about team work, so I have your back!

Bills---best.post.ever!! No judgment, because I understand the candy illness. I still sleep with licorice next to my bed, and I'll divorce Ngo the day he has a problem with it;-)

    Love you!

  4. Brooke that is hilariously bad! Oh my, to see that child on laughing gas and calling out Nemo's name would be worth it's weight in cavities...I mean Gold! At least he is cooperative at the dentist and doesn't have a mad phobia! Hang in there mama!
