you just never know what a day/night are going to bring.
yesterday, lawton had a dry cough in the morning, no big deal. by the afternoon, he was on the nebulizer and had a slight fever. he perked up after the albuterol, but i gave him tylenol for the fever.
we have the nebulizer because when he was young, he would get a cold and it went straight to his lungs. when he was 2, we never used it. once he hit 3, we are back. so weird right?
anyway, back to the ibuprofen
around 8, (late because he was jacked up from his treatment, i was folding clothes in his room, jack was in the living room and lawton was drinking the 1.5tsp of ibuprofen i had for him. he said yummy, then walked out of the room. when i finished, i went to the living room, and asked jack where he was. he thought he was with me. i walked in the kitchen and there he was drinking another cup of ibuprofen. OMG.
the bottle was almost done. i have no clue how much he drank, but he bottle def had more than half in it.
i ran him to the bathroom and stuck my finger down his throat. then i called my mom and she said to go to the ER. we have a poison control magnet, but she said they would send us anyway because we didn't know the exact amount he had. he said he drank 2 cups, but who knows if that was total, or when i wasn't with him.
jack took him to the ER and i waited. we went over all the doses 100mg per 5ml and in the end, they called poison control and they aren't concerned unless they drink 2 bottles of 100mg. he had a chest xray because of his coughing but everything was fine. so, needless to say, we are exhausted. lawton slept with me and i had jack ask the nurses if he would slip into a coma (i know, crazy town, but you never know!) and they reassured me he was okay.
jack took this picture this morning. everyone is so tired. and everyone wants to be with mommy. excuse the no makeup and crazy hair, but i had to document this for me to see years later. sometimes its hard to have everyone want mommy, but isn't is the best at the same time? ;)
moral of the story: NEVER leave medicine on the counters. he had gotten his stool and placed it to where he could reach it. damned if i thought he would ever do that!
AND this morning he said he needed to pee and next thing i know, the front door is wide open and he is nowhere. i went outside screaming for him (he likes to pee outside) and jack is in the backyard. panic mode! he was "resting" upstairs. seriously????!!!! i about had a heart attack. need to change the locks. this kid is getting too curious.
so, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to everyone! these kids of ours can be the sweetest, most precious things, they can drive us bat shit crazy, worry us to death, and make us fall in love over and over again.
i love being a mother. it sure is a roller coaster!
best thing i have ever done in my life. besides marrying jack of course ;)
