changing Wyatt's tubes

i wanted to document how we change wyatt's tubes everyday...i know in time i might forget, well, maybe not since it is pretty intense. but for friends and family to see what really goes on and how long these tubes really are!
behold, the long tubes! we only have one pair, so i have to be very careful with them. dr. matthews hand makes them. our first (which i lost, well, they disappeared into thin air) were a lot thicker, which made his nostrils look huge when i took them out. these are much better.
this is the way they go in.
i have to lay him down and place my legs over his arms and legs. sometimes lawton helps to hold his legs (which you will see) because he is kicking them so hard.
i then clean his nostrils and put antibiotic cream in them to help the tubes slide in easier
in go the tubes. not easily with the screaming and movement. plus, if they are out for over 30 minutes, the left nostril tends to close up (like when you pierce your ears and the first few months you have to keep them in so it doesn't close up) and it is tougher for me to get the left tube in.
now i have to put tape upto hold it in place
and another sideways to hold that piece of tape in place.
i then hold his face and talk to him to calm him down. here is big brother helping.
and finally, a nick nolte mugshot face and hair (in the back)
voila!
we've got it down to a science now ;)
3 more months to go...

  2. I obviously (haha) super emotional from having a baby a few months ago but holy tear jerker. I think it's so sweet Lawton is your right hand man. I'm just in awe of Wyatt. And you are an incredible Mom. Lucky, lucky boys they are.
