this month is a special month in the hall house. not only is this Wyatt's birth month, but it cleft lip/ cleft palate and craniofacial awareness month.
this month and every july, I will celebrate my little boy and every child that was born with a cleft lip/palate or any other craniofacial "thing". some people like to call it a "defect" but to me it is FAR from that awful word. "defect" is NOTHING what I would describe these children of God. mine being one of them. MY CHILD was NOT born with a birth "defect".
look at this beautiful baby!!!! can you not see the light is his eyes? can you not see the happiness he has? can you not see the CUTENESS???????????!!!!!!!!
up close and personal
wyatt was due August 16th. that was a day that was set in stone in my mind.
okay, I had until august to wrap my head around having 2 children and one that was going to need a lot of extra attention and help. august, august, august.
no sir! he decided to come early like his brother!
my water broke and this little one was going to come during his awareness month. ironic huh? ;) in my eyes, it's God's way of a beautiful thing. he came 2.5 weeks early, weighing 6.13 ounces.
beautiful work by dr. Matthews, a true saint and a huge part of my life now that he has changed my child's face and been there for me to hug me during the hard times, tell me I am doing okay, put his hand over my head and try and take my anxiety away, dr. Matthews, is everything.
I was scared to see wyatt after his surgery. scared of his face. this is the truth. I was scared of his face when I was pushing during labor. calling to jack, asking what he looked like. I knew I would love him, but what would he look like?
man, was he cute. man, was he MINE and man, was I going to look after this child and make him feel as special as he was. damn, I fell head over heels for his face. his smile was like no other and I felt like I was the lucky one. why did God pick me? I felt SO proud when people took an extra look at wyatt and saw him smile. I remember the way my heart felt and how extremely honored I was/am to be his mother.
then the day came that would change his face forever and I was devastated. what would he look like? I went through the emotions all over again and grieved for his cleft.
the moment he was out of surgery and I was able to see him, I was stunned. shocked. who was this? my same child, yet beautiful in a completely different way. I couldn't and still can't remember his cleft unless I look at pictures. we moved on right then and there.
I believe God did that for me. I like to believe that he did.
this is my baby.
this is what a "birth defect" looks like.
this is in no way a "defect".
this is a miracle.
this is a life lesson.
this is a beautiful little boy.
this is MINE.
this is William Wyatt Hall
