18 months!

can it be? are you really a year and a half? the time flies by and i am in awe of how you grow everyday! we had our 18 month appointment yesterday with dr.martin. you are 29.1 pounds (75-90% - you lost a pound - must be the fact that you are only eating fruit right now...grrrr), 33.5 in long (75-90%) and that noggin is still in the 90%. when he asked me how you were developing with talking, reading, eating, playing, i said "sir, do you see this head? he is a genius" ;-) i did get to brag because you are talking up a storm, understand most of everything i say, very coordinated and just a very happy, healthy little boy. my heart swells.

this kiddo is a handful - mom has to be resourseful and have toys galore when we are waiting on anything!!

a few things going on now:

• everynight we read The Very Hungry Catepiller and Goodnight Moon. in that order or you are not happy. everynight. you don't want to read anything else!


• you only want a yellow paci at naptime and night. if i can't find it and hand you a white one, it isn't good enough. it has to be yellow. WTH?


• you aren't eating like you used to this week....hardly anything at all!


• you are getting good at time out and know exactly where to go and what to do when i say those 2 words. you are mostly there kicking me while changing your diaper and slapping/hitting.


• you have started carrying your lovie everywhere until you get distracted and i throw it back in your crib. i don't get this and i hope this goes away soon!


• you have become a pool shark! you love love love the pool and will go under if i don't catch you before!


• you have FINALLY gotten over your fear of the swing! progress baby!


• you love slides and playgrounds


• you are developing beautifully. singing, counting, pointing out and naming things in books, telling me what you want and what you don't...shaking your head to a lot :0


• you love drawing


• you still don't say mommy a lot. da-da is a favorite word of yours. all i am asking for is a mommy or ma ma. i hardly ever hear it and it kills me.


• you are not much fun to go out to lunch or dinner with. we are putting a stop to that for a while. you won't stay in your high chair for anything. speaking of high chairs, you even hate yours at home. time to get a kiddy table!


• you adore anything BOY. swords, cars, sports, playing outside in the heat, pushing your lawnmower, you hate shopping unless bribed with a balloon and cookie.
