well, it had to happen sometime right? lawton and i had our first fight today at lunch. no, there wasn't any slapping, spitting or harsh words, just a lot of frustration between the two of us. he is the pickiest eater and i am tired. i am tired of putting things on his tray and him flipping his nose up at it. i am tired of picking up food off the floor once he throws it. i am tired of racking my brain to think of things to make that he actually might like. BUT, i must go on. everyone tells me it takes 7-9 times for them to try things. well, blueberries, you are almost at your limit. same to you pasta, ravioli and apples. it seems that pancakes, waffles, pimento cheese, bananas, nutra grain bars and puffs are taking the lead. JUNK. today, he wouldn't touch a half a sandwich - just cried and cried when he saw the banana on his plate and wanted that. oh, and let's not forget when he is frustrated, he wipes his arms across the tray back and forth like a windshield wiper (as katherine says) so that now everything on the floor. so, i finally gave in and gave him half a banana, some yogurt and put his hiney to bed. that was it. i had had it. i don't want to show my frustration towards him and believe me, it is hard. it seems like this is a game to him at times....SO, i am hoping he wakes up from his nap hungry and will eat whatever i put on his tray. please Lord, help me get through this. i just want him to eat and taste the good things in life! and go easy on his mama....Within These Halls

girly no worries. van went through this and i promise it gets better. i was almost close to tears several times having run out of things to give him and run out of ideas. then thinking oh no! all he eats is junk food. keep trying and if you find something he likes, keep it stocked as back-up!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your spat!! You are doing an amazing job. Don't be too hard on yourself and remain patient. You are meeting all of his needs, so A+. Think about you and chocolate, you hated that sh**, & now its your jam.
ReplyDeleteHis little tantrums are probably pay back upfront for all of the shade you will throw his future girlfriend(s) way in the future;-)
Love you!!!
I am cracking up at that picture! I promise it will get better. I know it can be frustrating though.
ReplyDeleteoh babe i feel u. I think Remy must’ve sent Lawton a memo re. windshield wiper arms. HATE THEM!!! Remy goes through phases where he’ll eat anything...and then nothing....so frustrating, yes. But just remember the best u can do is keep introducing these foods to him, which you’re doing. They’ll never let themselves starve these big boys of ours!
ReplyDeleteOh girlie I am so sorry!! I remember those frustrating days all too well... Philip was not a good eater and unfortunately had my love for sugar and sweets!! He still does but has gotten better - he will literally wake up in the morning and want candy for breakfast. And then not eat my brocolli and chicken dinner. I mean so do I so I can hardly blame him... but hes TWO and needs better stuff to give him energy and make him healthy as he grows. But just keep trying and I promise it will get better. Like Phil always says when I am beyond my wits end frustrated over something the kids wont learn... I have never known a first grader that couldnt sit or walk or eat a sandwich. :o) Love you lots! xoxo
