supper club

every month for the past year + we have supper club with our great friends the chapmans, culps, oxenhams and whites. this month allan was hosting and decided to bring the kids in for the fun. they had their own little supper club!

Halloween Playgroups

i love halloween! this month has been one of the busiest of my life, so i didn't have a chance to really think about lawton's outfit. i searched online and got one. i wish i would have been a bit more creative - maybe next year ;)

lawton had 2 halloween playgroup parties this week - it is so much fun to see the kids all dressed up! lawton was a glofer and wouldn't put on his hat or the loafer shoes...and i had to cut his pants because they were too small for him at the bottom...so we are a mix of peter pan and a golfer

this takes the cake....philip as justin beiber! he was donald trump last year with a full suit and comb-over, so claire had to beat that and definitely think she did - we tripped out!!!

she even made the shirt online and got the shoes...lawton may have to borrow those hightops!

we spent a wonderful weekend visiting family, going to games, shared lots of laughs and there were wonderful memories made. these kids love each other so much and it is so much fun to see them growing up together! lawton was in heaven!

and lastly, the real reason we all were together: celebrating B's 60th birthday. B is a wonderful, inspirational man and i am so lucky to call him my father in law. we love you B!

so, i went into hallmark today to get a few cards and came across this:

AGAIN....real men wear pink!!!

this weekend we had a first. a first haircut that is! now, i was not planning on getting law's haircut. i knew it was a little "fro-ish" but i thought it could wait a while. that is, until TWO women called him a SHE. WTH.

1st incident: lady in green in pic below at a birthday party.

2nd incident: mother in law of bday boy's mom. we'll get to this in a minute.

here is a picture of the kiddos looking at a salamander. now, i thought a salamander was the size of my index finger....uh, wrong. they are huge! i about asked where these suckers lived because i don't want to be anywhere near them...gross!!

incident 1. as lawton is touching the turtle (which my mom yelled at me for letting him do since they have salmonella?) lady in green said "good girl!" ummm...excuse me? i said "SHE is actually a HE". hmph. what girl wears a polo, jeans and new balances unless they are in a sorority?

incident 2. mother in law says "how old is she?"...again, he is a she and i said "real men wear pink. haha" and she said "not babies". DOH!

SO, i promptly made him an appointment to get his haircut. we ran home, grabbed a blue shirt, picked up my mom since jack was out of town and went to get a trim.

now, WHY DID SHE PUT HIM IN A PINK SEAT???? where are the fire engines, planes, etc? did i go to the wrong place?

mama! mama! mama! this is all he said with a mouthful of animal crackers. he did not want me to go far from him.

"stuck! stuck!!" he couldn't see his hands to get his cookies in his mouth ;0

sucker time. is it me or is someone else freaked out about that small ball of a sucker coming off and choking their kid? i took it out immediately.

98% wonderful, 2% hard

let's be honest here. motherhood is no walk in the park. there are long nights, putting on a happy face for your child when you just want to scream, there isn't a lot of time in the day to get things done, etc, etc....BUT there is a love that is unexplainable. being a mother is the best thing i have ever done in my life. i love it. i can't wait to add to our family one day. lawton is an EASY child. he was as a baby and is as a toddler. he says thank you and "pees" for everything he wants, he goes down easily, is great for babysitters, doesn't throw tantrums too often, loves mommy and daddy, 98 % of the time, we are golden. then that 2% hits? WOW. i am thrown for a loop and think he has gone bat shit crazy.

what happened in the past 24 hours? why are you waking up between 1-2 am the past 3 nights screaming your face off? why have i ended up sleeping on the floor with you just so i could sleep for a bit? why did i get a text from karen to pick you up early from school today because you are exhausted and throwing fits? why do you despise the bath the past 3 nights??? where in the world did that come from? why are you so obsessed with your shoes that you want to sleep with them on and pitch a gi-normous fit if i won't let you?

aaaaand. breathe brooke.

here is hoping to a better rest of the week. i gotta go...i have pick my kid up from school....EARLY!

20 months

happy 20 months to my little man.....how the time flies when you are having fun!

here are some things you are doing now:

  you love love love your col col and pap. you wake up saying both of their names and sometime i have to say we are going to see Pap just so i can get you out of the house...i know, i know, mommy is a fibber.

  you are very opinonated about the shoes you are going to wear everyday. you are ready to put them on as soon as you wake up and sometimes i even let you take a nap in them because you refuse to take them off....i know, i know, gross.

  you copy most things i do now which is so cute. when i stretch, you stretch, when i sing, you sing, when i say "sh$t!", unfortunately, so do you. i know, i know, quit cussing brooke.

  your vocabulary amazes me. you talk all the time and say new things every single day.

  your favoratie song is "til the world ends" by britney spears. you know when the chorus is coming and you know the words. lawton, when you read this, look this song up - you are going to be embarassed that this is your fav song, but you are damn cute when you sing it!

  you now tell me if you have done #2 and i am guessing this means potty training soon....i am worried i am going to have no clue how to do this....diapers until you are 5? maybe.

  you now are not very fun to shop with. we were thisclose to leaving target last week but i really needed a few things so i carried you. not a good idea. my arm hurt for days but you refused and when i say refused, you screamed in the store when i was trying to put you in the cart. why don't they follow HT and make a few carts with steering wheels?? hellooo target, get a clue.

  you would rather stay at school than come home with me. yes, this hurts a tad but i am happy to know that when i am away working, you are content as can be. it does sting a bit when you refuse to leave sometimes....don't worry, i know you love me....right??

  you FINALLY say MAMA!!! you had a 1000 words and had ruled that you weren't going to please me and now you say it often and it is music to my ears.

  when i am away working, you can actually have a good phone converstation which is amazing. we can actually talk and you might be pulling full sentences very soon.

  you are wearing 2 and 3T clothes and still a small foot! i don't get it?!

  you are a JOY to be around. i love spending time with you and i can count on one hand how many days have been "difficult" throughout these 20 months.

  you LOVE bathtime. i got you some thomas choo-choos for the bath and now you stay in there playing choo choo until after all the water has run out and finally get out once you start to get cold.

  you are getting more and more hair everyday! blonde curls galore!! i love!!!!

these are just a few of the wonderful things about you that your daddy and i love. you are growing up before our eyes and it is such a beautiful thing to watch. i am so blessed!!
